Senior Spotlight: Korey Damery

Korey Damery has attended the Meridian School District for 12 years.

Korey Jacob Damery was born on May 20, 2002, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Il., to Jeanna Lovelace and Jake Damery. He has three siblings named Kaiden Damery, Kynzie Damery, and Wyatt Lovelace.

Damery plans to join the union and go through an apprenticeship class as he hopes to become a carpenter or heavy equipment operator. He would like heavy equipment operating because he grew up messing around with machines like bobcats and backhoes. He also helped build his garage and a lot of stuff in his house as he enjoys carpentry.

Damery has attended the Meridian School District for 12 years and has participated in basketball for four years, football for four years, track & field for four years. Outside of school, he has spent his time at work at Macon Speedway, walking beans, and mowing yards.

Damery looks forward to being able to work all of the time and having money to get a new truck and house. However, he will miss the stupid arguments that he, Jacob Jones, Shane Smith, and Tyler Schilz had in lunch and their Math 098 class.

Damery has made many memories in his time at Meridian. Like, anytime he would fall asleep in Evan Kershner’s class, to wake him up, Kershner would yell, “Korey wake up, the school is on fire.”

Another memory would be when Damery, Taylor Pagel, Kole Renfro, Walker Brown, and sometimes Steven Stoots went out to eat after all of the football games. They would often go to Monicals’ Pizza or Steak’ N’ Shake to eat.

Another memory would be from intermediate school when they would play tackle football during recess and would always get in trouble.

Damery would like his fellow classmates to know that it has been a solid 12 years together and to wish them good luck in their lives.
