Deanna Wilson with Bittersweet Memories
Alexandra Renee Martin was born on Oct. 12, 2001, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Il., to Angie Carmean and Jeff Martin. She has a younger sister named Katelyn Martin.
Martin plans to attend Indiana State University to study optometry. She wants to be an optometrist because she has always been interested in the eyes and everything that one can learn about them.
Martin has attended the Meridian School District for 12 years and has participated in cheerleading for four years, volleyball for four years, Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) for four years, student council for four years, National Honor Society for two years, and soccer for two years.
Martin looks forward to living her own life and the ability to make something of herself. However, she will miss her friends and the ability to see them every day.
Martin has a ton of memories from her time at Meridian. She remembers when her, Tyler Schilz, Jacob Jones, Shane Smith, Peyton Latham, and Jesse Damery, went out to eat after almost every single football game. They would all squeeze into one car, usually Damery’s car, and go somewhere and they would listen to music and laugh the whole time. It was kind of like a tradition that stuck throughout the season and she will cherish those memories that they made.
Also, the Homecoming dance was on her birthday, so all of the parents of her friend groups pitched in to get a limo for them all to ride in. Her parents rented a private room at Taproot for them to eat in. After the dance, they all went back to her house and played games and had a great time. The homecoming dance and being with her friends on her birthday will always be a memory that she will have.
Martin wants her fellow classmates to know that she will miss them.
“Thank you for all the memories and fun times we have all had together through these many years. I will truly miss each and every one of you,” Martin said.
