Nice moves! Mia Rivecco shows off her dance moves while Sara Easter snaps a pic. Easter used to dance with Rivecco and decided to do a dance shoot with her. “I love to dance so much and it was really cool to photograph some of my friends doing it.”

How many seventeen-year-olds do you know who are already successful photographers with clients eagerly booking shoots?

Meridian junior Sara Easter is just that. Along with being a photographer, Easter’s a member of student council and dances at the Dance Factory in Taylorville.

“Whenever I was little I would always take the cameras and take pictures of things,” said Easter. She has always found photography interesting. When she was in middle school she would take “Tumblr inspired” pictures. However, it wasn’t until Easter was in high school she became more focused and dedicated to her photography.

Taking risks. TilliAnn Boliard climbs an old train car for her senior pictures. Easter took photos of Boliard after school one day. "[Climbing it] was a little scary" Boliard added.

TilliAnn Boliard, senior, got her senior pictures done by Easter. Boliard says that even though Easter doesn’t have as professional level of photography as others, it’s still really good. Boliard had an idea for some of her pictures, “I wanted pictures on this train car. So we climbed that train car and we took pictures on that train car.” She says it was really fun and added, “Who doesn’t like climbing trains?”

Flexibility. Rivecco shows off her skills again but this time in an abandoned building. Easter came up with the idea for this shoot. "I spent months trying to find an abandoned building."

Easter also has tons of her own ideas for shoots. She gets these ideas from a variety of places including Instagram, Pinterest, and even in the shower. One of her most recent ideas was for a dance shoot inside of an abandoned building. Easter had spent months trying to find one just for the shoot.

“Every photographer says that everyone has a different editing style no matter what and I’ve tried to recreate people’s editing styles and I just can’t,” Easter makes her pictures her own by using her own editing style and angles. She also combines things she likes with her photography, like dance and music.

“From what I’ve seen [her photography] looks so professional,” says junior Brittany Miller.

“[Her photography] shows that she has skill and she’s well on her way to becoming a professional photographer,” says senior Beau Kallenbach. Easter plans to continue her photography and make a career out of it. While she’s not sure if she’s going to go to school for it or not, she knows that her future contains photography.

Easter might only be in high school, but she puts a lot of pride and effort into her work and she appreciates the fact that her clients treat her professionally. “I think it’s really impressive that she already has clients,” added junior Claire Reynolds.

“It’s really awesome to know that people think that I’m good at this and I’m only a junior.”
