People from across the U.S. are flocking to see the remake of the movie IT, because of all the hype which surrounded the original trailer.

What are you truly afraid of? Can’t think of one thing in particular? Well, Pennywise the Dancing Clown knows your deepest, darkest fears, and is ready to feast upon them. Pennywise uses one of two methods to prey upon children. The first and scariest method is to appear as your worst nightmare. The second, which is sure to send you on a rollercoaster of emotions, is appearing as someone or something you love to lure you into a trap.

The movie takes place in the small town of Derry, Maine. According to Ben, the new kid, “people disappear 6x the national average…and that’s only adults; kids are worse.” Pennywise comes out every 27 years to wreak havoc on the poor town of Derry.

The movie follows the adventures of four friends: Bill, Eddie, Stanley, and Richie, who just started their summer vacation. The group picks up another two members rather quickly, Ben and Beverly. While investigating the sewers, the new kid, Ben, stumbles into the group after he was attacked by the town’s bully, Henry, and his goons. While the four friends are trying to figure out how to steal supplies to patch Ben up, they convince the fiery-haired Beverly to distract the cashier. She then becomes a member of “the losers.” The group is united with its seventh and final member, Mike after the losers chase off Henry and his cronies.

If I was given the opportunity to see this movie again, I would take it, even though I thought I was going to be visited by Pennywise after I left the theater. The film has the perfect concoction of jump scares, creepy clowns, and enough scary sites to make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. I give the movie 4.79 stars out of 5, (.21 stars short because I was afraid to go to sleep after viewing.)
