Susan Jane Knuffman, 46, of Decatur, passed away at Decatur Memorial Hospital on February 8, 2019.

Ms. Knuffman was born to Donald and Carolyn (Deverman) Sanders on September 6, 1972. She married CJ Knuffman on July 20, 1996, in Funk’s Grove, IL. Ms. Knuffman was a teacher at the Meridian Public School District for 24 years. Her presence at the Meridian School District was widely noticed and will be immensely missed. She was a member of St. James and St. Patrick’s Parish where she served as an extra ordinary minister and catechist. She was involved in the Boy Scouts of America and active in her children’s school organizations and activities.

A Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 15, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. The visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Thursday, February 14, 2019, with a prayer service to begin at 4:30 PM at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. The burial will be at Graceland Cemetery.

Ms. Knuffman is survived by her husband, CJ; children Lydia, Isabella and Cyril A. Knuffman of Decatur, IL; mother, Carolyn Sanders; brother, Jason Sanders (Alicia) of Atlanta, IL; six nieces and two nephews.

Preceding her in death are her father, Donald Danders; son, William Joseph Walter Knuffman; and father-in-law, Cyril D. Knuffman.

    I just can’t see that my teacher died I’m in her class now and she brought spirit in our class and there isn’t really enough spirit anymore now that she is gone I’m so sad I love you mrs knuffman

    We will miss her! She was a great teacher. She taught well. RIP!
