During a hot August night in St. Louis at the Toby Spout music festival, Mr. Rude got down on one knee and asked Ms. Johnson to spend the rest of her life with him.

Two teachers who found love for teaching high school students also found love for each other. On August 6, while enjoying the last few days before school started, Mr. Rude and Ms. Johnson were at the Toby Spout music festival when Mr. Rude asked Ms. Johnson if she would marry him. As he was hoping she would say yes, with no hesitation at all, Johnson easily accepted.

“We had talked about getting married, so I wasn’t surprised she said yes,” said Rude.

Emma Jackson, junior, says when she found out about the engagement, she was surprised and very happy for them. Jackson says, “It is cool knowing that teaching brought them together.”

“I wish them the best and I hope they have a lot of fun together after retirement,” added Jackson.

The couple is extremely excited to be together and can’t wait to see what the future holds. They will get married in the Summer of 2018 and join Ms. Moore’s trip to Rome and Athens to celebrate their honeymoon. The happy couple plans on retiring together after the 2018-2019 school year is over. They plan on traveling the world together, reading, listening to live music, and simply enjoying life.

With tears of joy in her eyes, Mrs. Johnson said, “I have never been more sure about anything.”
