Graduating class of 2017

Finally! Meridian seniors will be graduating on May 21. Hurelbrink adds, "As a principal, you always want to see your students be successful and see their hard work and effort pay off. Graduation, then, represents this pay off moment. It is a little bittersweet, however, as I am always happy to see students move on to their next chapter, yet, there are always students who will be greatly missed because of the positive contributions they have made to our school."

On May 21, at 2:00 p.m., Meridian will hold the graduation ceremony for the Class of 2017.

Graduation is a very special time, whether it be for the students themselves, the family, or the faculty. Mr. Hurelbrink, Meridian principal, thinks that graduation is something special to remember. When the principal sees all these students graduate, he knows he’s have done his job.

Hurelbrink mentions, “I hope I have done my job!  However, this job involves a lot of different things in regards to different students.  For some, I play academic adviser, for others, it might be counselor or someone to help them work through an issue.  For others, my role might be supporter and cheerleader when they do all of the things they are involved in.  And, for some, it’s the guy who hands out detentions!”

Hannah Wetzel and Patrick Smith are both seniors who are ready to graduate. They both agree that leaving this school will be hard, but their reasons are a little different.

Wetzel says, “The hardest part about graduating is having to say goodbye.”

Smith says that it will be hard “starting after high school when I’ve been going to this school my whole life.”

Hurelbrink adds, “Regardless, all of these interactions help me to create relationships with many different students.  So, when I see them graduate, I like to think I have done my job by playing a small part in their success.  However, they are who have done the job and deserve their accomplishment!”

Congratulations to the Class of 2017. All your hard work has finally paid off.
