Board game club is a group of students and a teacher, Mr. Kershner, who meet up on Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 2:30 to however long it takes them to finish playing their game.

Kershner started the board game club last year in order to appeal to the students who like different things. “I like to play board games and I thought it would be a club that might appeal to some students,” says Kershner.

Jake Deetz, a junior and frequenter at board game club, says it is a lot of fun and really open. “Sometimes we all play the same thing, sometimes we play like three different games, and sometimes we just mess around and get tacos,” adds Deetz.

It’s a very welcoming atmosphere according to Tiffany Reed, senior and attendee of board game club. “I walked in on one and they were having a lot of fun so I just wanted to join in,” says Reed.

For many of the students that attend the club, it’s a good way to relax and not worry about all of the stress that comes with being in high school. “Some students just need a way to relieve stress and to get away from the stress of tests and exams,” said Deetz.

When asked if this club would be back next year, Kershner offered some hopeful words, “There will hopefully be a board game club next year.”
