With Illinois primaries approaching this week, I wanted to take a look at presidential candidate Donald Trump.
This Tuesday, March 14, is the 2016 U.S. presidential primaries in Illinois. In case you don’t know, presidential primaries are voting events that help narrow down the candidates for the presidency. Then, in November, voters participate in the general election for president. Staying on the theme of presidential elections, this “What Up Wit Dat???” topic directs its question to presidential hopeful Donald Trump.
Senior, Carter Duffer, is not anti-Trump. Duffer states, “I think people in the media portray him as a racist when he just genuinely cares about the country… I believe his straight to the point policies would [serve] our country greatly.”
Junior, Andrea Ricker, might like to debate Duffer on this topic. Ricker states, “I think he would be an awful president!” Ricker also believes, “He doesn’t fact check and doesn’t back up what he says.”
Teacher, Payton Cloe, was asked for his thoughts on Trump, and stated, “I think he’s full of himself… I don’t think he’ll accomplish much. I think this is like his next challenge.”
Ricker is too young to vote in this election, but she hopes Bernie Sanders is elected. Duffer will be voting this year, and says his vote will be for either Ted Cruz or Donald Trump. Cloe mentioned he is not rooting for anyone in particular to be elected, and although he normally does vote, he said this year he is not voting.
Regardless of what they said about Donald Trump, this installment of “What Up Wit Dat???” would like to know if you think Trump would make a good president. Mention it in the comments below.
