Listening to music while doing homework is a challenge for some students at Meridian High School.
Listening to music is not appealing to some students while doing homework. Some say that it helps them stay focused on what they are doing. The others say that it doesn’t keep them on task.
Nate Durbin, a student at Meridian says, “It helps me stay focused on what I’m doing.” He also has to listen to certain music– music that isn’t very distracting. “I listen to Chance the rapper because it isn’t as loud as other rap.”
Other students disagree with Durbin and how he feels about listening to music while studying. Nathan Berger, another student states, ” I don’t like to listen to music while studying because it gets me off task.”
Emily Peterson’s thoughts are, “I can’t do it because I get distracted too easily.” Peterson even does some goofy stuff sometimes when doing homework while listening to music. “I always write down the words of the song on accident.”
