St. Vladimir’s Academy isn’t just any academy. It’s a school where vampires and half-humans are educated on ways to protect themselves whether it’s from Strigoi, which are the world’s most powerful vampires, or other Mori.

Rose Hathaway, a dhampir, which is a half- human, and her best friend Vasilisa Dragomir, or Lissa, as she likes to be called, both attend St. Vladimir’s Academy. Rose and Lissa have been through quite a lot during their friendship.  Vasilisa is a Mori(vampire) princess, the last one in her royal line, and Rose has sworn to protect her. After escaping from the Academy and living on their own, they are dragged back to the very place where they are in the most danger. Rose finds herself in a romance with one of her teachers, a guardian, named Dimitri and Lissa finds herself with Christian, the troublesome bad boy with an interesting past. Even though they have to deal with the struggles of their high school they will discover that there is a lot more planned for them.

I recommend this book! I thought it was going to be just another lame book about vampires and boy was I wrong! While reading it I didn’t want to put it down. While it’s a little on the lengthy side, I found myself getting drawn into it over and over again. Reading all of the feisty things Rose would say kept me interested.

Richelle  Mead has a way of making everything that happens feel so real. The characters can be so relatable at times. You won’t want to put the book down! In fact I read all of the books in the Vampire Academy Series in about a month! Check out all six books in this series  in the library.

I usually don’t like vampire books but this one sounds surprisingly good.
